What I noticed today . . .

a dead doe on the side of the freeway; two of her legs had been torn off and were missing

that trailers and big trucks often have 7 or 9 brake lights on them spread out in a U-shape around the backside of the vehicle

the little almond shaped leaf, partially yellow, mostly light green, that was stuck to the back window of my car by the beads of rain

that sometimes you hear lyrics that aren't there--"do angels bleed?" is a good line, but it's not really in the song

that my enter key--which I still want to call a return key--is starting to stick

that chives, with their purplish domed flowers, and onions, with their white tips, are even more vibrant and beautiful in the rain

Why don't you just call it the return key? I mean, besides the fact that no one calls it that anymore and that using that term would date you horribly; but otherwise, why not just call it the return key?

:o)

I am continually amazed at how much detail you see in the world. It makes me feel like I am just blindly going about life and not really seeing anything. That's why you're the writer, I think.

Betty, I don't want to reveal my immense age. I mean, we didn't even have a PC until I was in sixth grade. And it saved data on cassette tapes. Can you believe that? Cassette tapes! Now that was a tedious process.

And Alicia, you most definitely SEE.

Wow, cassette tapes??? I bet your abacus was old-school too. :o)

You know what else looks more vibrant and beautiful in the rain? I do. I have glow-in-the-rain skin.

Betty, are you part alien?

Let's see--an abacus, slate, manual typewriter, stick pen and bottle of ink.

If I think really hard, I can go back to papyrus.

Has anyone ever seen On a Clear Day You Can See Forever?

No. No one has ever seen it. You are the only person in the world who has seen that movie. Weirdo.

Many earthlings have seen and enjoyed this film, myself included.

I haven't seen the movie, but it looks good. I love old films.

I remember the cassette tapes. We got our computer after that phase when there were 5 1/4" discs. I learned to type on a manual typewriter that took some major pinky strength to hit the return key.

Wow, Alicia, you just led to an epiphany on my part. I had never, until now, connected the return key with a manual typewriter. So THAT's why they call it a return key. It all makes sense now.

Despite my young age, my first typing was also done on a manual typewriter. I know exactly what you are all talking about. So there.

My first computer was a Commodore PET with a cassette drive. Dad got it when I was in third grade and I bragged about it to my friends. And we had one of those old clunky original Apple computers.

Anyone know how to use a slide rule?

A slide rule? Oh, now that's a piece of engineering that I don't know how to use.
